Urban Decay Day Time Look- Hair

Look at the Urban Decay adverts and campaign the kind of look that stands out for me and would work well for a day time look is their range of naked products.

I've been thinking a lot about the hair and my initial idea was to add a plait or braid as they are very popular this s/s as well however I want it to have a messy look to it so it's like effortless.
I tried my first idea which was adding plaits on top of the head and adding colour through it. For me this didn't work out very well. I think i may try it again but with swirls.

I  decided the best thing to do would be to try the hair styles on my model, get a feel for what looks would work on her hair. I know I want to incorporate a plait as Urban Decays naked collection the girls always have their hairs in plaits or up do's.
After messing with her hair I decided to do a side braid and some swirls this is how it turned out.

I feel in love with the side braid, I just felt it needed to be ticker ( I've ordered some extensions and will try it again when they arrive.) I want to pull the hair out and make it a little messy. Once i've worked out how I want the plait I may add the colour to hair again buy try with a sponge so it goes on lighter.

I did the first swirl and it looked pretty but again it just wasn't thick enough so I decided to do another one behind, it didn't work there is too much of a gap and it looks tacky and not effortless.

This is pictures of the hair with extensions added. It's made the plait thicker and the plait just look so much better. I'm really pleased with how it's turned out. I don't think I will add colour into the hair as it will be too much for the natural look. I may try doing the plait as a dutch plait so it sticks up higher on top.
