Urban Decay- High Summer Moodboard

Urban Decay- High Summer Makeup

The previous collections Urban Decay have brought out each year for high summer have been a pop of colour and bronzy blowy skin. I wanted to do something a little different. I wanted it eyes and the lips to be bright daring and colourful just what Urban Decay stands for. I wanted to keep with colours they would use, so decided to use the electric palette (this palette has bright shades in almost neon!).
As this was high summer I wanted to keep to warm tones as summer for me represents hot!!

This bright orange was spotted all over the catwalk for summer 15 and is becoming a very trendy colour.

For the eyeshadow I want to use the orange range so maybe starting with yellow going to orange then to pink to purple. I think this will pop on the eyes and work well with the lip colour.

After playing around with the colours on my hand and blending them, this is the face chart I came up with.

In the end I added blue and green under the eye as the eyes did't look balanced without anything underneath. the contour i wanted it to look more like bronzer on the cheeks so won't contour too much.

Urban Decay- High Summer Hair

Most of Urban Decays Collections for high summer are bright and bold. With this in mind I wanted the main focus on the makeup. The hair still had to represent high summer though, so I decided to google a few ideas.

These 3 hair styles for me stuck out the most and related to high summer. I'm imagining some where hot so you would want the hair up and off your face. Keeping in mind I have to take a picture front on and sidewards I think the pony tail would work best and it looks nice from both angles. The bun from the front will make my model look bold. With the pony tail I am going to do a sleek pony tail as we learnt this within Lotties class and how to make the hair look smooth.
Although all these models are blonde I want a model with dark hair as the makeup will stand out brighter in the images.

This is the model I have chosen she has great face shape and her hair is long enough to put into a pony tail. Her natural hair is wavy and frizzy so I will need to treat the hair blow dry it straight and straighten it afterwards. I will also add some shine serum and it is going to really show up in dark hair.

Urban Decay- Nail Look Moodboard

Urban Decay Nail Look - Nails

As Urban Decay haven't brought out a new perfume for a while since the roller oils. I thought it would be better to do nails as I know they bring out new collections each year in America.

Looking at previous colours they have brought out they are either a bright pop of colour in unusual colours or dark and mysterious. Find below a few of their nail polishes.

Right now i'm unsure what colour I want to go for I will need to take a trip to boots and take a few swatches. For the shape Almond and stiletto are in fashion and elongate the fingers and make them look thinner. Below is are pictures of both shapes.

After going to boots and getting some inspiration for looking at different colours I realised each time Urban Decay bring out a collection they are based on something.

This collection was called the Showboat collection it was based on bright colours that really pop on the nail.

The latest collection Urban Decay brought out was based on The Naked Collection 3 palette. These nail varnishes were inspired by eyeshadows within the palette.

After looking at colours within the store and picking out colours I thought were really different and unique, colours that I could see Urban Decay having in their collection. I decided I wanted to do an deep aquatics collection.

Below is a moodboard for the nail colours I wanted to pick to go with my under water theme.

Below are the colours I picked for my final shoot. I'm unsure whether to add a pink or coral into the collection as well.

This will be my darkest look within the collection. It reminded my of the darkness of the deep sea but also the multi coloured fish.

Lime green was a coloured that cropped up a lot in deep sea pictures so I thought it would only be right to included one. I  like how this one had a matte finish.

I thought it would be a good idea to have a colour within the collection that was more of a wearable day colour. This is a brown nude that reminded me of the coral and the end of the jelly fish.

This is such a vivid blue and it looks amazing. It has a chrome effect in that gives a great finish.

These are the colours I am going to chose for my final design. As this is going to be a deep sea collection I thought it may be really fun if i did this shoot in the water or even under water.

Urban Decay Nail Look- Hair

The overall feel of my look is underwater and deep aquatics. The hair for me just has to be wet looking with a messy look. Slicked back and a little over the face maybe.

When searching wet look hair this kind of hairstyle is the most common back off the face.

Products i've tried that work really well are Vo5 wet look styling gel and Trevor Sorbie fibre wax for the baby hairs.
